Interesting Facts About Alpharetta Georgia

Beginning as a small village named New Prospect Camp Ground in the 1830’s  the city of Alpharetta has grown into a vibrant city. Prior to the name Alpharetta, the town was known as “The Town of Milton”.  The name  was changed to Alpharetta shortly before the city was chartered on December 11th, 1858. Alpharetta became the county seat of Milton County.  Hit hard during the depression, Milton County merged into Fulton County in 1932 to avoid bankruptcy.

A popular historical landmark in Alpharetta is the New Prospect Campground which is commonly referred to as “The Methodist Campground”.  Methodist circuit riders would hold services frequently in the campground.
