Located 25 miles North of Atlanta on the southern shores of beautiful Lake Lanier is the City of Buford. "The Town of Buford" was incorporated on August 24, 1872 and was later renamed "City of Buford" in 1896. The city was named after Colonel Algernon Sidney Buford who was President of the Atlanta and Richmond Air-Line Railroad.
Leather Tanning was an important part of the city's industry which produced nationally known items such as shoes, saddles, horse collars and much more.
