The City of Norcross

"A Place to Imagine"

Located less than 20 miles from Metro Atlanta, the city of Norcross is Gwinnett County's second oldest city and is the only city in Gwinnett County to have a district listed in the U.S. Register of Historic Places.  It is home to approximately 9,637 residents.

Norcross was founded in 1870 by J.J. Thrasher who named the city for his good friend and former Mayor of Atlanta, Jonathan Norcross.  Norcross was originally founded as a resort town and was often referred to as "Atlanta's Favorite Summer Resort".  Visitors would arrive by train at the Norcross deopt and usually stayed at the Brunswick luxury hotel just across from beautiful Thrasher Park.

Today visitors to the 112 acre Historic District enjoy viewing the restored Southern architecture while walking down shaded streets with brick sidwalks that are lined with turn-of-the-century street lighting.

Despite rapid growth to the area in the 1980's Norcross maintains it's hometown charm.  Convenience to Atlanta, Award Winning Schools and many wonderful neighborhoods make Norcross a great place to call home!
